Mechanism of Action
Jatamansi contains several bioactive compounds including:
Jatamansone, Nardol, Borneol, Linalool, Nardostachin, Quercetin, Kaempferol,
Inulin, Gallic acid etc.
Jatamansone: Helps normalize gastric secretions & supports gut-brain signaling,
improving appetite. It calms psychosomatic factors that often underlie anorexia such as
anxiety or depression. It exhibits antispasmodic & carminative properties, relieving
flatulence & discomfort. It enhances gastric motility & secretion of digestive enzymes.
Jatamansone is a potent CNS depressant with sedative and tranquilizing effects. It
enhances GABAergic activity, leading to reduced neuronal excitability and better sleep
onset.
Nardol: It stimulates parasympathetic activity, which enhances digestive secretions and
appetite. Relieves gastric discomfort, flatulence, and acid dyspepsia. Soothes the GI tract
and supports better digestion.
Borneol: Reduces abdominal discomfort, flatulence, and cramping. Induces relaxation,
shortens time to fall asleep, and improves sleep quality.
Nardostachin: Alleviates symptoms like bloating, nausea, and abdominal fullness.
