Indications
Allergic rhinitis, Asthma
Adult Dose
Oral
Allergic rhinitis, Asthma
Adult: 225 mg bid.
Child Dose
Oral
Allergic rhinitis, Asthma
Child: 3.5 mg/kg bid.
Max dose: 10 mg/kg/day (not exceeding 450 mg daily).
Contra Indications
Acute asthma attacks; hepatic impairment/cirrhosis.
Precautions
Renal impairment. Possible elevations in liver enzymes. Withdraw treatment in patients showing signs consistent with Churg-Strauss syndrome.

Interactions
Concurrent use with warfarin and other anticoagulants may cause an increase in prothrombin time.
Adverse Effects
Headache, increased incidence of resp tract infection, GI disturbances, induced generalized pain, fever, myalgia, arthralgia.
Mechanism of Action
Pranlukast is a selective leukotriene D4-receptor antagonist. It suppresses early and late bronchoconstrictor responses to inhaled antigen or irritants.
