Mechanism of Action

Lactobacillus Reuteri NCIMB 30242 is the 1st clinically proven heart health probiotic. It has been shown to naturally support healthy cholesterol levels through reducing LDL (''bad'') cholesterol and total cholesterol. Lactobacillus Reuteri NCIMB 30242 produces an enzyme called bile salt hydrolase that deconjugates bile acids. These bile acids are natural detergents made by the liver from cholesterol and are released into the intestine with the purpose of transporting dietary fat and cholesterol into the circulation. As bile acids are naturally deconjugated by Lactobacillus Reuteri NCIMB 30242 in the intestine, dietary and biliary cholesterol absorption is decreased in the body.
