Andrographis paniculata
Indications
Viral fever, flu, Common cold, Sinusitis, Viral hepatitis
Adult Dose
1 capsule 3 times daily between meals for 5 to 10 days or as directed by the physician.
Contra Indications
Andrographis is contraindicated in cases of known allergy to plants of the Acanthaceae family.
Precautions
There is no evidence available on contraindication but it may happen in patients who are hypersensitive to any of its ingredients.
Pregnancy-Lactation
Andrographis should not be used during pregnancy
Interactions
May have a synergistic effect with Isoniazid.
Adverse Effects
Large oral doses may cause gastric discomfort, vomiting & loss of appetite.
Mechanism of Action
Andrographolide inhibits glycoprotein of virus then Impedes ability to invade cell that Impairs viral replication.
Andrographolide increaes Interferon secretion then increases Activity of Lymph system & finally stops proliferation of virus
