Indications

Peripheral circulatory disorders, Chronic Venous Insufficiency, Venous Ulcer, Superficial thrombophlebitis ,Glaucoma, Hemorrhoids, Diabetic Retinopathy, Diabetic Angiopathy

Adult Dose

Oral Peripheral circulatory disorders Adult: 0.5-1 g daily in divided doses. 1 capsule once or twice daily.

Administration

It should be taken with the main meal.

Contra Indications

Hypersensitivity. Pregnancy and lactation.

Precautions

Severe renal impairment. In case of skin rash, treatment should be stopped. Dosage should be reduced in case of severe renal insufficiency requiring dialysis. In patients with agranulocytosis, this medication can decrease the number of white blood cells which affects the body's ability to fight against various infections. If patients experience flu-like symptoms such as cough, sore throat, fever and others, they are advised to seek medical care as soon as possible.

Pregnancy-Lactation

C The safety of Calcium Dobesilate during pregnancy and lactation has not been established. As it is unknown whether calcium dobesilate crosses the placental barrier in humans, the drug should be administered during pregnancy only if the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. Avoid breastfeeding while using this medicine.

Nausea, diarrhoea, skin rash, fever, headache and vertigo

Mechanism of Action

Calcium dobesilate acts selectively on the capillary walls regulating their physiological functions of resistance and permeability. It lowers blood viscosity and restores normal blood flow. This action is beneficial in all cases of capillary fragility due to metabolic disturbances (constitutional or acquired), and surgical stress or induced by certain medicines.
